Size Guide: Coats, Jackets and Knitwear

Finding the right size for a coat or jacket online is easier when you measure once and compare. This size guide explains how to measure yourself, how our sizes compare across the UK, EU and US, and how to choose the right fit for winter layering. If you are unsure, our team is happy to help before you order.

Important: many of our coats and jackets run small

Several styles in our collection are cut to Asian sizing, which is usually about one size smaller than standard UK and EU sizing. Each product page shows its own size chart in centimetres. Please always check that chart first, and use the tables below to compare.

  • Between two sizes? Choose the larger size.
  • Wearing a thick jumper underneath? Choose one size up.
  • Product page says “runs small”? Choose one size up from your usual size.

How to measure yourself

Use a soft tape measure and wear a thin top. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight.

  • Chest / bust: measure around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms.
  • Waist: measure around your natural waist, the narrowest part of your body.
  • Hips: stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips.
  • Shoulder width: measure across your back, from the edge of one shoulder to the other.
  • Sleeve length: with your arm relaxed, measure from the shoulder seam to your wrist bone.

Tip: the easiest way is to measure a coat you already own and like. Lay it flat, measure across the chest from armpit to armpit and double it, then compare with the size chart on the product page.

How a winter coat should fit

  • Shoulders: the shoulder seam should sit at the edge of your shoulder, or just past it for a relaxed style. Sleeves can be shortened by a tailor; shoulders cannot be changed.
  • Chest: you should be able to button the coat over a jumper and still move your arms comfortably.
  • Sleeves: the sleeve should end around your wrist bone and cover the cuff of a shirt or jumper.
  • Length: check the coat length on the product page. A long coat (110 cm and more) usually falls below the knee; a short jacket (55–65 cm) ends around the hip.

Frequently asked questions

Do your coats run small?

Many of our coats and jackets use Asian sizing, which is usually about one size smaller than UK and EU sizing. Each product page shows its own size chart and says when a style runs small. If in doubt, choose one size up.

Should I size up for a winter coat?

Size up if you plan to wear a thick jumper underneath, if you are between two sizes, or if the product page says the style runs small.

How do I convert UK, EU and US sizes?

For women, UK 10 is usually EU 38 and US 6 (size M). For men, a 38–40 inch chest is usually EU 48–50 (size M). Use the tables above for all sizes.
